Friends, Wine & Beer Lovers:

Our shop will be closed on the 4th of July so we wanted to kick off the Independence day celebration a few days early. This Wednesday we will be tasting a selection of red and white wines along with a few selected beers, cheeses and spreads. Make plans to stop in and try out some new wines and beers that will be perfect for any backyard cookout.

July is filled with stuff you can do with your kids. Movies for Munchkins, Theatre Classes, Mice, Ghost & Trolley Tours. Don’t forget the parade and the 4th of July Celebration. Even Christmas is coming to the Square this month Check out details below.

We haven’t forgotten our BIG KIDs !!! Stop in for a FREE taste of Chocovine at the Mairetta Wine Market. A chocolate wine from Holland .. Some are calling it “YOOHOO” for grown-ups. Plays, Concerts, Movies…. Not to mention great food and live entertainment at many of the restaurants on the Square.

WEDNESDAY, JULY 1st “Movies For Munhkins” at the Strand Theatre The Earl Smith Strand Theatre is giving parents a fun activity for their kids this summer - a kids' classic movie in a classic movie theatre. Each movie is at 10:30 AM on a Wednesday this summer and includes a half-hour organ pre-show at 10 AM with the exception of The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything and Princess Bride. Here's the line-up:

THURSDAY JULY 2 & FRIDAY July 3 “Let Freedom Ring” (8pm) Patrons will enjoy a musical salute to the freedom that launched America in 1776 and its evolution to the liberty enjoyed today. From traditional standards to songs that got the nation through the war, all of the patriotic favorites will be performed with pride. Tickets $12 and $5 for kids 12 and under.

SATURDAY, JULY 4 , 9am – 12pm. “Bird's Eye Parade View” The City of Marietta's Freedom Parade will begin at 10 AM at Roswell Street Baptist Church and head towards the Square from Roswell Road, turning onto Cherokee Street next to The Strand. Only 100 people will enjoy a "view above the rest" from The Strand's roof top terrace. Tickets $5 per person. Bar will be serving juice, coffee, Bloody Mary’s, Mimosas, and morning beverages.

SATURDAY, JULY 4th “Red Wine & Brew” (5 PM till the Fireworks) Only 100 VIP tickets will be available to the Red Wine & Brew VIP dinner and fireworks viewing on July 4. VIPs will watch the Let Freedom Ring show at 5 PM, and enjoy a BBQ dinner in one of the private event rooms, live jazz, and a "front row" view of the city's dazzling fireworks show from the top level Cobb Terrace. Tables of eight are $500 or $75 for individual tickets. Ticket includes BBQ dinner by Dave Poe's BBQ, two alcoholic beverages, jazzy entertainment, and access to The Strand's roof top terrace. VIP tickets are available by walk-up, phone at 770-293-0080, or online at www.EarlSmithStrand.org. Tables are available only by walk-up or by phone.

SATURDAY, JULY 4th Independence Day on the Square” (10 a.m.-10 p.m. ) Get in on the fun and celebrate with an Independence Day parade and celebration on the Square, free live concerts, arts and crafts show, food, carnival games and fireworks finale.

Note: There will not be a Farmers Market on the Square due to the 4th Celebration. The Farmers Market will resume on the Saturday July 8th.

WEDNESDAY, JULY 8th (10:30am) “Mice Tours for Toddlers” at the Marietta Museum of History Museum Mice Tours are tours for toddlers ages 3-5 and their parents the 2nd Wed of each month. Museum Mascots Murray and Etta help our smallest visitors learn history. The theme for our tour this month is, Exploring Jobs with Murray. Theme: “Carabella Winery” Open to the Public) Cost: Charity Donation: Cobb Christmas Carabella Wines are produced in the Willamette Valley, at the base of the Chehalem Mountains in southern Oregon. Mike Hallock has been the winemaker for the past twelve years and produces superb Pinot Noirs,Chardonnays and Pinot Gris from five different clonal blocks of grapes.The wines are fermented separately then blended together to bring out the the rich,complex flavors that are the hallmark of wines produced in this area. These wines are limited and will only be here for a short time.Be sure to stop in and treat yourself to some excellent wines from this acclaimed winery.

Theme: “French Whites” Open to the Public) Cost: Charity Donation: DFCS In the past few weeks we have acquired a great selection of new French white wines that can be paired with numerous shellfish, seafood, and salad dishes. This Wednesday we will feature some new varietals such as PicPoul, Rousanne, Sauvignon Blanc, and Chardonnay all from new and exciting wineries from throughout France.

WEDNESDAY, JULY 15th (7 pm- 8:30pm) “Spirits & Spirits Ghost Tours” $15pp-. Joni has begun her Spirits & Spirits Ghost Tours leaving from the Marietta Wine Market the 3rd Wednesday of every month. Spirits and Spirits Tours will begin at 7:00 at the Marietta Wine Market and includes one glass of wine while you listen to some of the area's ghost stories. THURSDAY, JULY 16th “Evening with History at the Marietta History Museum” (7:00pm) Arnold Whitaker served as a WWII Infantryman in Patton's Third Army and took part in the infamous Battle of the Bulge. The winery practices sustainable farming and is one of the most earth friendly wineries in California. The wines produced are perfectly balanced and stay true to the characteristics of the grape varietal. This Saturday we will be tasting their Syrah, Pinot Noir, no oak Chardonnay and Merlot.

Halter Ranch is a new winery with a rich history.Located on the west side of Paso Robles, this property dates back to the 1880's.Bill Sheffer is the winemaker and was recently in our shop with a selection of his best wines. Friday, JULY 31st Glover Park Evening Concert - Featuring: Grapevine (Rock n’ Roll /Beach) Time: 8:00 PM Cost: Free The Glover Park Concert Series on the Marietta Square is the place to be in Marietta the last Friday evening of each month April through September. The park is the perfect setting for families and friends to enjoy a picnic and listen to music under the stars. The concerts are part of Marietta's year long 175th anniversary celebration.
Concerts are rain or shine. Blankets and lawn chairs may be set up after 4 p.m. No personal tables are permitted in the park. However, they may be set up on North Park Square after 5:30 p.m. A limited number of tables are available for rent on the first working day of the month for that concert.

 Join us October 3rdth h for a day on the North GA Wine Trail. We will meet at the Marietta Wine Market at 10am. and begin the day with pastries, coffee & mimosas. Then off to Dahlonega, GA and our first stop the Wolf Mountain Winery. There we will enjoy their Jazz Brunch and take a tour of their winery. From there it’s off to visit and tour the Three Sisters & Blackstock Wineries. Below is a list of optional events tastings.  Arrival back at the Marietta Wine Market expected 6: 30pm.

Here are some ideas below for your group.

This is a great time of the year to get together a group of friends and have a party. There is a plethora of things to do on the square ranging in price from $15-$40pp. Wine Tastings, Ghost & Trolley Tours, Concerts, Festivals, Dinner and the Theatre.

Have a “Private Wine Tasting at the Marietta Wine Market”. For $15pp we will help you pick a theme, varietal(s) or region(s) that your would like to learn more about. We typically serve 6 wines and serve light hors d’oeuvres to compliment the tasting. Note: Many of the restaurants on the square have rooms available to accommodate groups for dinner after your tasting or have evening entertainment.

 “Spirits & Spirits Ghost Tours”. Joni will begin Spirits & Spirits Ghost Tours leaving from the Marietta Wine Market the 3rd Wednesday of every month. Spirits and Spirits Tours will begin at 7:30 at the Marietta Wine Market and includes one glass of wine while you listen to some of the area's ghost stories. We will then depart at 7:30 into the Square for a one hour walking ghost tour. (Cost $15pp.) A different theme stories (to be told at MWM) each month. Private Spirits & Spirits Ghost Tours also available Mon- Sat.

"Scary-etta Trolley Tours"
After the Art Walk/First Friday, Ghosts of Marietta will be doing ghost tours on the trolley once a month. The tour will be one and a half hours long and will cover areas outside of the current walking Ghost tour. Group Wine Tasting at the Marietta Wine Market followed by Trolley Ghost Tours available Mon- Sat ($40pp)

“Wine Tasting & Theatre on the Square”
Have your group meet that the Marietta Wine Market before the show for a private wine tasting of 6 wines and light hors’dourves. Groups (12 people or more) Tue & Thur Evenings $35pp, Friday Evenings $40pp (Special Preview Night Performances & Tasting - Tue Aug 12th and Tue Sept 30th only $25pp)
