We have an “A-MAY-ING” month of activities planned for you on the square. With something for everyone.

This week the Mayerzy Pancreatic Cancer Foundation is our charity of the week. We will have LIVE Music by B Natural on Wed 5-7pm and Sat 2-4pm during our Weekly Wine Tastings at the Marietta Wine Market. Call your friends and come out and join us for a fun night for a good cause.

Stop by for a glass of wine before the play “Poetry & Pizza” at the Theatre on the Square or before Martini’s and Music at the Cobb Art Museum this week.

Get a group together and take the Trolley to the Braves Game on May 16th or join us for the Spirits & Spirits Ghost Tour on May 21st

Like to eat…. Check out the Farmers Market, Ruth Mitchell Progressive Dinner, Brown Bag & Glover Park Concert Series and the Rock Wing Festival all on the Square this month.

Mark your calendar….our next North GA Wine Trip is scheduled for Sunday Oct 5th and we have booked to Bumby Gardens at the Marietta Conference Center for the 2nd Annual Art of Wine Expo Sunday Oct 19th.

The Marietta Wine Market holds weekly Wine Tastings every Wednesday 5pm-7pm and Saturday 2pm-4pm. Each week we sponsor a different local charity and serve complimentary hors d’oeuvres. WEDNESDAY, MAY 14 th (5:00pm- 7:00pm) Wine Tasting at the Marietta Wine Market. Theme: “Wine & Cheese Pairing” (Open to the Public) . Cost: $ Charity Donation “Mayerzy Pancreatic Cancer Foundation”
Once a month we hand select cheeses from around the world and pair along side wines from their respective countries. This is always a fun event and a chance to sample some fun and exciting new wines.

SATURDAY, May 17 th (2:00- 4:00pm) Wine Tasting at the Marietta Wine Market. “ Theme: “French Wines of Maison Guyot” (Open to the Public) Cost : $ Charity Donation: Mayerzy Panceatic Cancer Foundation.
The House of Maison Guyot was established in the Rhone Valley of France in 1924. The families passion for winemaking is evident in the selections we will offer for tasting. This Saturday a representative of the Importer will be here to present some of the Rhone Valleys best varietals, the white wines of Rousanne, & Marsanne and the reds consisting of Syrah, Cinsault, and Grenanche.

his Wednesday Joni Goodin with the Marietta Ghost Tours will be here to lead those brave enough, on a search for Ghouls and Gobblins. In order to bolster your courage, we invite you to stop in and sample our featured wines from Starry Night Vineyards in Navato, California. Monday night - open Mike night from 9.00 p.m. til late - come and listen to some real cool players and singers.
Tuesday night is Trivia night from 8.30 p.m.
Wednesday night - Danny Stag (aka Chicagos fame) entertains us on the piano from 7.30 p.m. Thursday night is karaoke night and we always have live music

At each tasting we put out a basket. A $5-$10 donation is suggested, but not required. Some people give more, some give less. Donations are accepted by cash, check or credit card and any size donation is greatly appreciated.

FYI- We are starting to book more private tastings and special events at our store. The Marietta Wine Market remains open to the public during these events, so if you are in the area don’t hesitate to pop on in and see us.

Directions from I-75 S: Exit 265 North Marietta Loop, Go West (RIGHT at end of ramp), You will cross over HWY 41. Turn left on Church Street, this leads you to the Square, then turns into Old Powder Springs at Marietta Pizza (Roswell Rd / Whitlock). We are located between  Marietta Pizza and the Alley Stage Theatre.  FREE Parking behind Duprees.

 I send out a weekly e-mail to let you know about upcoming events at the Marietta Wine Market. In addition to our events, I also try to let you know about other shops, restaurants and special events that are planned on the square. The more things to do and places to see, the more it makes Marietta Square "The Place to Be".

My goal is to help support the businesses on the square as much as possible. DID YOU KNOW that there are 31 Places to Eat and 47 Places to shop right in Historic Marietta. Not to mention the Museums, Theatre and other things you can do. I now have a listing of the shops, restaurants and other attractions on the location page of this web site. This is includes their hours of operation, address, telephone numbers and web site links.

THURSDAY, MAY 15th “Brown Bag Concert Series” (12:00 PM - 1:00 PM) Glover Park - Marietta Square. Grab your lunch and meet your friends and co-workers at Glover Park each Thursday in May for the Brown Bag Concert Series. A different performer will entertain each week. Sponsored by Marietta Parks, Recreation and Facilities.

Friday, May 16th “Take the Trolley to the Braves Game” the third Friday of every month starting May 16. The Historic Marietta Trolley will take you down to the stadium, drop you off, wait for you and bring you back to the Square. Free parking is available at the parking deck. Tickets are $10 not including tax. Reservations are required and you must pre-pay at our office. Call 770-425-1006. Celebrate the victory at one of the bars on the Square.

Friday, May 16th (5:00pm-8:30pm) Martinis and Music at the Marietta Cobb Museum of Art.
Enjoy a night of martinis and music at the Marietta/Cobb Museum of Art. The event will feature live piano, with a performance by Red Tanner, and cocktails. Free to members and $5 for adults. The public can purchase a museum membership and receive a free drink / Cash Bar

The market will take place every Saturday – rain or shine – from May 3rd through August 30th . The market has products that are Georgia grown, made or produced. That include fresh vegetables, fruits, herbs, plants, flowers, honey, breads, garlic, cheese and other such items. SUNDAY. MAY 18 th (5:30 PM - 9:45 PM) Progressive Dinner benefit for Theatre in the Square and Ruth Mitchell Dance Theatre
Enjoy dinner, appetizers and help Theatre in the Square and Ruth Mitchell Dance Theatre.  Appetizers will be served from 5:30-6:30 p.m. in the Main Lobby of Theatre in the Square, 11 Whitlock Avenue near the Square.  Cocktails and a sit-down dinner will be served from 6:45-8:45 p.m. at The Marlow House, 192 Church Street near the Square.  Dessert will be served from 9-9:45 p.m. at the Georgia Dance Conservatory, home of Ruth Mitchell Dance Theatre, 49 West Park Square near the Square. Spirts and Spirts Tour will begin at 7:00 at the Marietta Wine Market and includes one glass of wine while you listen to some of the area's ghost stories. We will then depart at 7:30 into the Square for a one hour walking ghost tour. The Marietta Wine Market will handle both the reservations and payment. FRIDAY, MAY 30th Glover Park Evening Concert - Featuring:The Mighty Kicks (Beach / R&B) Time: 8:00 PM Cost: Free The Glover Park Concert Series is "the" place to be in Marietta the last Friday evening of each month April through September. The park is the perfect setting for families and friends to enjoy a picnic and listen music under the stars! Concerts are rain or shine. Blankets and lawn chairs may be set up after 4:00 PM. No personal tables are permitted in the park, but feel free to bring your own food and beverages and dine on the lawn.

Marietta Square (Downtown Marietta) This third year charity event will bring together chicken wing restaurants & classic rock tribute bands for an all day festival. Check out live music from 5 bands & a DJ, wings & cold beer at this HUGE outdoor entertainment event. Kid zone with extreme slide, monster Jeep inflatable & adventure course sponsored by Gas South! FRIDAY, June 13th "MARIETTA MERCANTS MEETING" 9am-10am at Three Bears Café. The overall goal at these meetings is to keep people updated on upcoming events, and create an environment that allows business owners to brain storm, share new ideas and address concerns. These meetings give us the opportunity meet our fellow merchants and gather information and ideas. Between meetings sub committee can meet and spend more time planning events & gathering information to share with us. Sunday, October 5, 2008 (10am- 6 :30 pm) "BUS TOUR ON THE GEORGIA WINE HIGHWAY" $85pp

 Join us Oct 5th h for a day on the North GA Wine Trail. We will meet at the Marietta Wine Market at 10am. and begin the day with pastries, coffee & mimosas. Then off to Dahlonega, GA and our first stop the Wolf Mountain Winery. There we will enjoy their Jazz Brunch and take a tour of their winery. From there it’s off to visit and tour the Blackstock & Three Sisters Wineries. Below is a list of optional events tastings.  Arrival back at the Marietta Wine Market expected 6: 30pm.

Wolf Mountain Wine Makers Tasting -$10.00 per person includes a sampling of their seven estate wines and a souvenir tasting glass.

Three Sisters "Vintner's Tasting" - $10.00 takes you through a special tasting of wines from the Three Sisters and Chestatee labels. Each "Vintner's Tasting" includes a beautiful Three Sisters Vineyards souvenir wine glass.

Blackstock Wine Tasting -$10.00 per person includes a sampling of their wines and a souvenir glass.
